Yes, I really get this question, especially on social media. I considered just specializing in general custody coaching because there’s more financial opportunities and a lot of need. I wanted to work with CPS families because when I was a legal assistant I saw how common profound violations were and how desperately parents needed help. This is my full-time job, and I have a real life and real bills and responsibilities like the rest of you because I am not independently wealthy. I worked hard to build my reputation and education to help CPS families, and I bust my butt working 60 hours a week to make a difference. I can’t work for free, but I do happily keep my rate affordable to most families, make my groups affordable to anyone, and donate about 10 hours a week talking to parents and helping them just to help.
Coaching is not therapy, and I do not diagnose or treat mental health conditions. My coaching and consulting is a legal support service. As a legal support service my goals are to help you to complete and get credit for your service plan completion, resolve CPS and Court concerns about your parenting, fix problems with your case worker, advocate for case compliance regarding policies, procedures and laws that impact your case, and get your kids home faster.
The best time to start coaching is when CPS opens a case and wants you to start a safety plan or takes your children into care. If we can start the CPS intervention the right way we can avoid most of the common problems. But perfect usually doesn't happen, and the vast majority of my clients come into coaching after they've had the state involved in their lives for a long time. As long as you have at LEAST a month before a Termination of Parental Rights (TPR), coaching can make a positive difference and improve your case.
Once your rights have been terminated there isn't much I can do to help, because the case is effectively closed. File an attorney and if you win the appeal reach out and I would love to help you fight to reclaim your children. The rare exception exists when you are afforded certain rights of contact with your child via a court order, and I can help you to get those rights enforced.
While I have tried to make my services affordable to all families, there are some families that don't have a $150 to spare, even to help get their kids back. For these parents, and parents who aren't sure if coaching is for them, I have created Group classes which anyone can afford, since they are only $20 per month. You'll learn my formulas for successfully fighting CPS and improving your case standing, but you'll be advocating for yourself based on the information I am teaching.
